This highly visible Business Development Director (BDD) position focuses on prospecting and closing new Facility Solutions products business with large Healthcare industry organizations including providers, GPO's and IDN's that will typically yield a $750K or greater annual spend nationally. The BDD is responsible for executing business development sales strategies, positioning Staples Facility Solutions as the preferred solution for decision makers and influencers across targeted opportunities. The role has a regional scope, and the incumbent can work from a home office anywhere within the US but should live a reasonable commute to a regional/national airport.

The role has an East Coast regional scope, and the incumbent can work from a home office as far south as Atlanta, GA and as far north as southern Maine. They will need to live within a reasonable commute to a regional/national airport as travel to customer locations is a regular expectation.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responsible for the aggressive pursuit and growth of new business at targeted enterprise Vertical Market opportunities across the United States. 
  • Consultative engagement with prospects through diligent and thorough research, demonstrating knowledge of prospective customers’ industries (Healthcare, Strategic Accounts, or other Key Vertical Markets) and specific business issues and challenges facing them. 
  • Execute business development sales strategies to move targeted prospects to active opportunities, while positioning Staples Facility Solutions as the preferred solution for decision makers and influencers of target opportunities. 
  • Actively engage networking contacts, professional affiliations, industry groups, trade shows, etc., and other lead sources as required.
  • Build an internal and external network that enables client success and identifies new target clients, following through on leads from a variety of sources. 
  • Provide guidance on RFPs/RFIs, pricing strategy and legal agreements.
  • Engage customers including but not limited to building customer facing presentations; preparing pricing proposals including profitability analysis; engaging in customer meetings/presentations.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to develop strategic acquisition and pricing to differentiate Staples from competitors.

What’s needed- Basic/Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma
  • 7+ years related experience working with large/national and complex sales opportunities 
  • 5+ years successfully selling janitorial/sanitation or related products/programs in a business-to-business environment.

 

What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years related experience working with large, complex sales opportunities 
  • Deep understanding of supply chain, Jan/San, EVS industry, and infectious control in the Healthcare vertical
  • Skilled in business analytics with the ability to make financial and fact-based decisions
  • Skilled in entire Microsoft suite

The salary range represents the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. The specific base pay may be influenced by a variety of factors to include the candidate's experience, skill set, education, geography, business considerations, and internal equity.  In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for bonuses, or other forms of variable compensation.
