What You’ll Do

As a Heat Treat Operator you’ll be part of our manufacturing team located in Decorah, IA. You’ll get to: 

Under minimal supervision, maintains high quality standards and meets production requirements in the heat treatment of product.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES

QUALITY REQUIREMENTS:

1. Follow all established SPC procedures, including those described in the company’s SPC guidelines.                            

a.  Thorough understanding of how to complete SPC sampling and charting and do any additional required SPC paperwork along with testing required for customers.                                               

b.  Must be able to identify and respond to various patterns or conditions that occur on SPC charts.                      

2. Responsible for testing of product to meet customer’s expectations.

3. Responsible for the legible completion and signing of production prints hourly.                                        

4. Ability to use all gages and gaging techniques as required.      

5. Maintain required quality levels and does not exceed scrap or discrepant material limitations.                              

    

 PRODUCTIVITY REQUIREMENTS:

     1.  Ability to operate heat treat equipment with little or no supervision.  Is capable of acquiring skills necessary to operate new equipment and meet quality and productivity requirements.                                                    

     2.  Ability to read all manufacturing blueprints.                    

     3.  Communicates all necessary information through work assignments.                                                     

     4.  Demonstrates the ability to make sound decisions in all work assignments.                                                

     5.  Responsible for training new operators and is instrumental in assisting other          

         operators in meeting productivity and quality requirements.      

     6.  Makes minor repairs and assists maintenance in major repairs on equipment.                                                    

     7.  Performs other duties as assigned by leadperson or supervisor.   

                                                    

     EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE/SAFETY/HOUSEKEEPING:

     1.  Provides preventative maintenance on machines at proper time intervals.                                                       

     2.  Observes machines for proper operation and reports problems to leadperson or supervisor.                                     

     3.  Follows all company safety rules and OSHA regulations, wears all prescribed safety equipment in carrying out work assignments and reports any hazardous conditions to leadperson or supervisor.                                                      

     4.  Ensures work cleanliness in work area is maintained at all times (6S).        

     5.  Be able to use forklifts and preform daily forklift inspections in a safe manner. 

  

Must be available to work overtime as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of high school diploma or GED.

Displays teamwork to interact with fellow employees.       

Thorough knowledge of SPC.                                       

Ability to use all gages and gaging techniques.                  

Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.                 

Ability to operate all heat treat equipment.

Knowledge in ISO14001 requirements.  

Record date for SPC and IATF16949 documentation.

Good communication skills.                                       

Strong human relations skills.
