Quality Manager develops, implements, and monitors business unit quality policies and procedures consistent with company and strategic business unit objectives. Manages strategic business unit quality activities and resources.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensures business unit customer, regulatory and company requirements are established, communicated and complied with in the delivery of the products and services.
  • Ensures the Safety Management System (SMS) is embedded in company culture and Flight Safety Risk is minimized.
  • Interfaces with Customer Programs, Operations and Engineering to establish quality requirements on individual products and services on the basis of customer needs, the fit, form and function of the product, and to ensure that quality considerations are properly addressed as early as possible in the product or process design stage.
  • Works with the business unit strategic group to select, manage, and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Leads and participates in the business unit quality audit including: Achieve internal audit plan, coordinate with external auditors to achieve their assessments, conduct sub-contractor audits for conformance to SA requirements.
  • Monitors warranty procedures including root-cause investigation, corrective and preventive action and follow-up to ensure continual improvement.
  • Develop and provide training, facilitation for Quality Assurance topics, as required.
  • Continuously monitors quality assurance data/KPIs with the aim of driving continual improvement across the business unit. 
  • Maintains, compiles, and reviews company and business unit procedures for compliance and effectiveness.
  • Exercises authority in hiring, training, career development, performance appraisal, salary adjustments, promotion, discipline, health, safety and the general employee relations of direct reports.
  • Actively participates in the appropriate management team(s), assisting with the development and realization of strategic plans, budgets, goals and outcomes.
  • Carries out special projects as assigned.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9000/AS9110 quality system requirements, including implementation and ongoing compliance.
  • Thorough knowledge of, or the ability to interpret and apply company instructions, company processes, and other internal procedures.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience working in a highly regulated environment, ensuring compliance with industry and organizational requirements.
  • Hands-on experience conducting and supporting internal audits in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as Oracle, SA Menu.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, or aerospace engineering; or equivalent / A&P certificate.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment, or airline maintenance.

 

Desired Qualification: 

  • An SMS certificate is considered an asset
  • NDT certification is considered an asset.
  • Prior experience in the MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) industry is an asset.
  • Knowledge of airworthiness certification requirements and regulatory bodies (TC, CAAC, FAA, etc.) is an asset.
