About the role

  • Provide assessment and psychological therapy within PEIPOD, a multidisciplinary early intervention service for young people with recent onset psychosis or mood disorders, working across inpatient and community settings in partnership with local non-government organisations.

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop individualised treatment and care plans, and deliver evidence-based interventions in consultation with consumers, families/carers, and relevant service providers.

  • Function as the primary clinician (case manager) for PEIPOD clients, coordinating care and providing consultation and support to families and carers.

  • Deliver individual and group psychoeducation for consumers and carers regarding mental health and alcohol and drug conditions, treatment options, harm minimisation, relapse prevention, and health promotion strategies.

  • Support medication monitoring and management of side effects, assisting clients to develop effective strategies for medication adherence and self-management.

  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and with external services, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, participating in clinical reviews and case conferences, completing mandatory outcome measures in line with MH-OAT requirements, and supporting seamless care pathways across services.

About you

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with AHPRA, with evidence of clinical experience in a tertiary hospital or health-related field as a practising Occupational Therapist.

  • Experienced clinician with demonstrated ability to apply sound clinical reasoning and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team in an inpatient or community mental health setting.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with consumers within a recovery-oriented framework, including engagement with families and carers.

  • Demonstrated understanding of early intervention principles in the context of emerging mental health problems in young people.

  • Experience and commitment to working with young people with complex needs, including co-occurring mental health conditions, alcohol and other drug use, homelessness, and forensic issues.

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, basic computer literacyand a current unrestricted NSW Class C Driver’s Licence.
