  • Salary: 103.34 AUD base per hour.

About the Role:

  • The primary role of the ward Career Medical Officer (CMO) is to provide medical care for general ward inpatients at the Mater Hospital.

  • This will include assessment, investigation, treatment, and referral of the patient in consultation with the Admitting Medical Officers (AMO - this is the Visiting Medical Officer that the patient has been admitted under at this time) and other members of the treating team.

  • The CMO is required to liaise and communicate effectively with other Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs), registrars, Nursing and Allied Health staff regarding the patient’s ongoing clinical management plans and diagnostic requests.

About You:

Essential:

  • Current registration with AHPRA.

  • Post-graduate year 4 or above.

  • Recent acute inpatient hospital care experience in both medical and surgical areas.

  • Demonstrated commitment to best practice and quality management participation.

  • Proven ability to work as a contributing and cooperative member of a team.

Desirable:

  • Current membership of Medical Defence Union.

About The Mater:

In this role you will be based at the Mater hospital, North Sydney.

  • One of Sydney’s premier private hospitals.

  • Close by to train stations at North Sydney, St Leonards, and Crows Nest, and buses on Pacific Highway.

  • The only Australian hospital that is a member of the International Society of Orthopaedic Centres.

  • Core specialties include Obstetrics, Orthopaedics including hip and knee joint replacements, bone and sports injuries, cardiology, cancer care and surgery, lung and vascular medicine, ear, nose and throat surgery, urology, endocrine surgery, and neurosurgery.
