Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):
The Academic Year Kierkegaard Library Support position provides support to HKL staff and assists library patrons during the Fall, J-term, and/or Spring semesters. Typically works 5-10 hours per week during regular library hours (10am-4pm, M-F); occasionally provides support for evening and/or weekend events. This position provides a foundation of work in a professional context, including communication with a variety of stakeholders (e.g., faculty, staff, students, visiting scholars, and community members), as well as general office and library duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:
● Assist with general library tasks, such as shelving books and locating resources
● Assist with general office tasks, such as scanning and organizing documents
● Serve as first point of contact for library patrons, answering general questions and leading library/campus orientation tours
● Assist with various projects, such as updating website or social media, creating flyers, editing documents, compiling reports, setting up for events, and processing donations
● Assist with other duties as assigned
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
Required:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work independently and as a team player with minimal supervision - Comfortable working with diverse groups
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a library, office or campus department
- Knowledge of or interest in philosophy, especially Kierkegaard
- Familiarity with Catalyst, Google Docs, WordPress, and/or Canva
Physical and Environmental Factors:
This position requires crouching, stooping, twisting/pivoting, climbing/balancing, reaching overhead, grasping/handling, pushing/pulling, and lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs. to perform the essential functions. It also requires rare exposure to loud noise and heights or cramped quarters to perform the essential functions. Candidates must possess the ability to safely perform the physical work required of all duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
