Position Summary
The Custodial Supervisor is directly responsible for the daily cleaning and sanitation of all buildings while also overseeing custodial operations to ensure facilities are consistently clean, safe, compliant, and operationally ready. This is a working supervisor role, requiring hands-on completion of daily cleaning tasks in addition to supervising custodial staff, enforcing cleaning standards, maintaining schedules, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The role ensures no building areas are left unattended and that cleanliness standards are met every day without exception.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Custodial Supervisor is accountable for the following core responsibilities:
- Complete all required daily building cleaning, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, common areas, and designated exterior areas, ensuring facilities are fully cleaned and sanitized each day.
- Perform hands-on custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, restroom sanitation, surface disinfection, floor care, and room setup.
- Supervise, train, and direct custodial staff to support daily cleaning completion and coverage as assigned.
- Develop, assign, and enforce daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning schedules to ensure all facility areas are addressed consistently.
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities to verify cleaning quality, safety standards, and completion of daily tasks.
- Ensure proper use, handling, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals and equipment in compliance with safety and health regulations.
- Maintain inventory of custodial supplies and equipment; monitor usage and submit replenishment requests to prevent service gaps.
- Coordinate staffing coverage to ensure daily cleaning is completed during absences, special events, emergencies, or increased facility usage.
- Respond immediately to spills, hazards, bio-cleaning needs, or urgent sanitation issues.
- Maintain accurate records related to cleaning schedules, inspections, safety training, supply usage, and incident documentation.
- Collaborate with operations and leadership staff to ensure buildings are consistently ready for instructional, administrative, and public use.
- Support emergency preparedness and response efforts related to building cleanliness and safety.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises custodial staff.
- Provides task assignments, training, and performance feedback.
- Ensures staff performance supports the completion of daily building cleaning requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of custodial or facilities experience, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role.
- Demonstrated ability to perform full-scope custodial cleaning duties independently.
- Working knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and safety standards.
- Ability to supervise staff while maintaining direct responsibility for daily cleaning tasks.
- Strong time management, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move custodial equipment and supplies.
- Availability for flexible scheduling as required by facility operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a school, nonprofit, healthcare, or public-sector environment.
- Familiarity with OSHA and sanitation compliance standards.
- Experience managing custodial supply inventory.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly Rate: $22.00 per hour
