Description

Job Summary: Ensures the efficient operations of the imaging department. Supervises staff and operations, ensures efficient workflow, delegates responsibilities, ensures efficient staffing levels, and timely communication to both staff and the Director of Imaging. Performs patient care and assists with imaging exams.


Job Results & Essential Function

  • Ensures staff are properly oriented and assists with performing annual performance evaluations of staff.
  • Ensures efficient workflow
  • Maintain records and reports for each staff member to ensure performance is met and has crucial conversations with staff when needed.
  • Engages in staff recognition and staff empowerment while maintaining a focus on the patient experience.
  • Assists in the development, revision and implementation of department policies, procedures, and QA initiatives.
  • Communicates and enforces policies and procedures to staff.
  • Monitors employee compliance with safety standards and ensure standards are enforced.
  • Remains current regarding developments in the field of radiology and attends training sessions to maintain knowledge as necessary.
  • Provides input to staff interviews and makes hiring decisions.
  • Strives to maintain costs and meet the budget of supplies and clinical staffing operations.
  • Ensures that all quality control tests and procedures are conducted and documented and that performance of all equipment is accurate within established parameters to meet regulatory requirements. Ensures repairs are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Assist with tracking equipment PM and series needs.
  • Reports area for improvement and ways to increase patient satisfaction.
  • Assists Imaging Director with any initiatives necessary.
  • Assures Image quality amongst department
  • Assists during staffing needs, picks up vacant holes where staffing issues arise.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, independently, and build strong working relationships with a wide variety of medical staff
  • In conjunction with the director / manager, perform all activities necessary to achieve the operational and financial targets of the department, as defined by the budget.
  • Learns all employee responsibilities and assists as a working supervisor.


Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Associate's degree in radiologic technology preferred.
  • 4 years of imaging experience required.
  • Two (2) years in a leadership (i.e. Supervisor, Coordinator, or Lead) capacity in an Imaging Department
  • CT experience required.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Effective analytical ability and interpersonal skills

Licenses and/or Certifications

  • Graduate from an ARRT Accredited School
  • ARRT Certificate
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • IV Certification preferred

Physical Demands

Must be able to move up to 50lbs. must be able to transverse, remain in a stationary position, operate equipment, ascend and descend stairs, position patients, use many kinds of equipment in the department and throughout the hospital. Must be able to take “call”.


Language Ability

Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific/trade/technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, or regulatory agencies. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, patients, and vendors.


Math Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, rates and ratios.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Requires the ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption. Technologist must be able to understand and relate concepts behind specific ideas.


Working Conditions

Potential exposure to chemicals and communicable diseases and related medical waste, radiation, as well as possible exposure to blood, bloody fluids, and tissues.
