Job Summary:

The Linen and Equipment Technician I position distributes linen and assigned equipment to all nursing units and ancillary departments. Picks up dirty linen and dirty equipment and cleans equipment from nursing and ancillary units.

Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors, and other employees regardless of cultural background.

Job Description:

  • Delivers linen and scrub exchange carts and replenishes linen/scrub par areas as scheduled.
  • Issues additional linen and scrubs as requested.
  • Ensures all areas have adequate amounts of linen for patient use and scrubs for staff use.
  • Follows procedure for pushing/pulling carts.
  • Communicates any changes increase/decreases in supply needs to Lead or Supervisor.
  • Accurately replenishes all exchange carts/par carts using the detailed sheets located on the side of the cart.
  • Confirms linen and scrub carts are properly prepared for the next exchange.
  • Collects soiled linen from laundry chutes and ancillary departments; confirms all soiled linen has been collected and delivered to the holding area for pick-up by Tri-State Laundry as needed.
  • Ensure all areas where equipment will be stored are clearly marked and no cross contamination will occur.
  • Assists with removal of non-usable linens and pillows that are no longer usable.
  • Follow infection control policies and procedures at all times to assist in the prevention and control of infections.
  • Ensures dirty or dropped linen are placed in hamper.
  • Receives, checks in and places clean linen carts from our Tristate Laundry in designated spots.
  • Cleans cart shelves as standard of work requires.
  • Ensures rotation of linen carts within all linen areas including clean room storage and all par locations.
  • Collects and decontaminates previously used equipment ensuring that cleaning procedures are followed to manufacturer recommended standards.
  • Ensure that all rechargeable managed clinical equipment is powered and charging after cleaning
  • Deliver linen, pillows, or equipment ordered through EPIC messages.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • Must be a Junior or Senior in High School
