About this role

Seeking a Grade Survey Technician with surveying, grade control, and construction layout experience. This role requires expertise in 3D modeling software, precision surveying equipment, and field construction processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency throughout project phases.

Location: Lebanon, TN
Salary Range: $75,000 – $90,000 per year + company vehicle

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain accurate 3D models using Agtek software
  • Create digital terrain models (DTMs) and surface models from field data
  • Generate cut/fill reports and earthwork calculations
  • Coordinate model updates with project changes and field conditions
  • Perform precise grade checking throughout construction phases
  • Verify elevation accuracy and adherence to project specifications
  • Set and maintain construction hubs and reference points
  • Conduct final grade inspections and documentation
  • Schedule and oversee proof roll operations
  • Coordinate with contractors and inspectors for quality control testing
  • Use GPS rover systems for accurate curb and gutter line layout
  • Establish construction control points and benchmarks
  • Provide real-time field support and problem resolution
  • Conduct topographic and boundary surveys
  • Perform construction staking and as-built surveys
  • Operate total stations, GPS equipment, and levels
  • Process and analyze survey data for accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain survey equipment calibration and care
  • Prepare daily field reports and progress documentation
  • Create as-built drawings and record drawings
  • Maintain accurate project files and survey records
  • Coordinate with project managers and design teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or related field, OR Associate degree with 3+ years of relevant field experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in construction surveying and grade control
  • Proficiency in Agtek 3D modeling software (required)
  • Experience with GPS/GNSS rover systems and total stations
  • Familiarity with construction methods, specifications, and engineering plans
  • Experience with Civil 3D, Topcon, or Trimble software (a plus)
  • Background in heavy civil construction projects
  • Professional surveyor license or technician certification (a plus)
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Capable of walking on uneven terrain and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform precise manual tasks
  • Professionalism, confidentiality, and strong communication skills
