About this role

Pacific Northwest Transportation Services (PNWTS) is the proud supplier of carbon-neutral transportation services for the cruise industry in Victoria, British Columbia. As the exclusive supplier of buses on behalf of the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority (GVHA), PNWTS provides motor coaches and double-decker buses for shore excursion tours and shuttle connections for cruise lines and is the sole provider of dispatch services on the Terminal. 

The Fleet Attendant supports the Fleet Manager in coordinating and communicating the repair, maintenance and servicing of fleet vehicles in order to provide a sufficient number of safe, roadworthy vehicles to meet PNWTS operational requirements. 

Wage: $40.22 per hour

Positions Available: Full-time (Seasonal)

Reports to: Fleet Manager

Job Description:

  • Responsible for the overall cleanliness, maintenance, and health of the fleet
  • Ensures the fueling of buses is properly coordinated
  • Performs pre-trip inspections as necessary
  • Conducts onsite minor repairs and communicates with Drivers and Ops Team to ensure smooth operational dispatch
  • Establishes and maintains a good working relationship with BMT Group Services
  • Fills in on shuttle duties when needed
  • Washes buses
  • Being available during the day to assist drivers and help where needed from a maintenance standpoint
  • Supports Gray Line operations and assists with any breakdowns that occur during non–cruise ship hours
  • Shuttles buses to and from BMT or to other appointments such as Sound Advice or radio work throughout the week
  • Communicates with Dispatch, Drivers, and Fleet Manager regarding bus breakdowns and/or defects
  • Attends staff meetings as required
  • Is available for driver questions and troubleshooting during dispatch

 

Qualifications:

Knowledge

  • Post-secondary education is an asset.
  • Valid Class 2 with air driver’s license with clean abstract is required
  • At least 1 to 2-year experience with vehicle or bus maintenance and repair is an asset
  • Knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts and practices of vehicle maintenance
  • Knowledge of local roads and traffic patterns
  • Company policies and processes
