About this role

We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Ads and Podcasts team within the Finance Data & Insights organization. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys combining strong SQL, Python, and data skills with a deep curiosity for how financial data drives business decisions.


Your mission will be to build automated systems supporting data operations for enterprise and individual podcast creator payout calculations, perform analytics over advertising revenue, and provide insights to both internal and external stakeholders within Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), and the broader Finance organization.


This role will also include opportunities to build AI data infrastructure for our Finance organization.

What You'll Do
  • Work with a cross-functional team of data scientists, engineers, and finance representatives to define and test requirements for enhancing revenue recognition systems and data products
  • Develop systems, datasets, and processes to support the ingestion, analysis, and reporting of advertising delivery, revenue, and cost data
  • Support ad-hoc requests from various internal teams (Accounting, Legal, Licensing, Financial Planning, etc) as well as external podcast publishers that require analysis of advertising data and systems
  • Continuously innovate on how we produce insights by leveraging AI tools
  • Collaborate with a group of highly motivated individuals who are passionate about Spotify’s success


Who You Are
  • 2+ years of experience in data analytics, ideally with experience in financial data analysis
  • Skilled in translating complex data into actionable insights for partners
  • Able to own and solve complex business problems with data
  • Fluent in SQL, Python, and data pipelining tools like dbt
  • Experienced with visualization tools like Tableau and Looker Studio
  • Able to communicate with both technical and non-technical teams to understand problems and articulate proposed solutions
  • Have experience performing testing and validation of datasets and outputs created by other teams or members of your team
  • Have a background with both finance and technical experience, with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or another quantitative discipline


Where You'll Be
  • This role is based in New York, NY.
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home. We ask that you come in 2-3 times per week.

The United States base range for this position is $94,585 - $135,121 plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
