Production Manager

The Role:
The Production
Manager (PM) is responsible for leading the manufacturing team and delivering
customer orders safely, to specification and on time. With
this understanding the PM will implement solutions to improve the production
plan. To be successful in this role one should be highly results driven, have
excellent communication skills and be metric driven. In addition, strong
communication and stakeholder engagement are critical to success, this includes
the ability to effectively partner and collaborate with those leading and
working in the demand planning, finance and supply chain areas of the business.
Your Responsibilities:
- Ensuring all safety and environmental standards are met to keep associates’ accident-free.
- Motivating, mentoring, supporting and providing guidance to hourly production supervision and staff.
- Communicating regularly with operations manager regarding problems or issues impacting production
- Evaluating machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime
- Establishing a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations
- Setting productivity goals for the production team.
- Developing workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
- Ensuring adequate headcount to align with production capacity needs and scheduling of production staff overtime.
- Provide leadership and direction to production team to help accomplish order fulfillment objectives. Identifies areas/projects requiring attention, develops priorities, identifies work plans for staff and coordinates review of projects with production management.
- Provide manufacturing input to job estimates and approves new designs prior to release to production.
- Develop and implements key accountabilities for inventory in both the annual physical inventory and cycle count program.
- Monitor the production plan and modify as needed to maintain acceptable product availability and inventory levels. Collects, monitors and analyzes actual results against business variables of the forecasts such as sales to users, orders, shipments and factory and consigned inventory.
- Meets production planning financial objectives by helping forecast requirements; participate in preparing annual budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Resolve production scheduling problems by analyzing reports; developing solutions.
- Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing production data and trends.
- Assures compliance to ISO 9001 standards and the Durex QMS.
- Understands vendor contracts and from time-to-time visits outside service partners.
Key
Accountabilities:
- Foster a safety culture with all plant associates.
- Develop, implement and foster adherence to the manufacturing process routers and labor rates.
- Deliver production output to the scheduled plan.
- Execute stocking plans using methods such as Kanban, Min/Max etc.
- Drive maximum number of inventory turns as possible and still meet customer demands.
- Coordinate with materials team the annual physical inventory.
- Meet or exceed monthly on-time shipping goals and revenue dollars.
- Maintain a backlog that is under control and not adversely affecting the business.
- Assure that shop floor
transactions and manufacturing orders are completed in the ERP system.
Requirements:
- B.S./A.S. Degree in operations management, industrial/manufacturing engineering or technology or related field preferred but not required. Previous production supervision experience a plus.
- 3 - 5 years previous experience as a production manager or higher level production supervision or in a similar role.
- Manufacturing background with experience in discrete manufacturing processes, primarily in welding, assembly, polishing, tubular forming and test specification adherence.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 not required but preferred
- LEAN/Six Sigma background (Green Belt preferred).
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment, including maintaining highly confidential information.
- Be self-motivated, driven, flexible and adaptable to complete assigned tasks; results driven.
- Strong computer skills and software knowledge consisting of – Microsoft Office, Microsoft Dynamics or other related ERP systems such SAP, JD Edwards or Great Plains.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional business environment verbally, electronically and written.
- Strong people management skills / experience providing training to planners is helpful.
- Highly organized, detail oriented and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship, both now and in the future.
Pay Rate: $120,000 - $140,000
