We are hiring a Digital Hardware Engineer for one of our clients in Rochester, NY. In this role, you will own the full hardware lifecycle from high-level requirements and design through manufacturing and field deployment. You will work on high-speed digital systems in high-reliability environments, with a focus on embedded microprocessors, DDR interfaces, USB/Ethernet, signal integrity, PCB layout, verification, EMI/EMC compliance, and support for US security clearance eligibility. The position follows a 9/80 work schedule (9 days out of 14, 80 hours total, every other Friday off).
Lead design and integration of embedded microprocessor systems (ARM cores, DDR memory, high-speed USB/Ethernet)
Perform circuit simulation and signal integrity analysis (LTSpice, HyperLynx, MATLAB)
Execute full design cycle: requirements, schematic capture (Mentor VX/Designer), high-speed layout
Conduct subsystem and system-level verification/validation using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
Design for MIL-STD-461 EMI/EMC compliance and IPC standards
Support reliability engineering and hardware survivability in demanding environments
Collaborate on SDR architectures, HW/SW integration, and rapid troubleshooting
Manage product data and lifecycle using Agile PLM tools
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred)
6+ years of relevant hardware engineering experience (or 4+ years with a Master’s degree)
Strong expertise in high-speed digital design, embedded microprocessor integration (ARM, DDR, USB/Ethernet)
Proven experience with simulation tools (LTSpice, HyperLynx, MATLAB) and schematic/layout tools (Mentor VX/Designer)
Hands-on verification/validation using lab equipment and root-cause analysis
Knowledge of MIL-STD-461 (EMI/EMC) and IPC standards
US citizen and eligible to obtain US Security Clearance
Fluent in English
Experience with Software Defined Radio (SDR) architectures and RF/digital interaction
Embedded software/VHDL scripting (e.g., Python) for automation and troubleshooting
Boundary Scan (JTAG) proficiency for high-density PCBs
Familiarity with Agile PLM for configuration and lifecycle management
