Overview

Champion possibility and fuel student success by providing social-emotional services for students who need additional support to shine in school. As a vital, integrated member of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll collaborate with school teams and families in delivering SESI’s proven, high-quality services—including individual or group counseling services.


Responsibilities

Location: Dual Campus Role – Union City & Hapeville


Reports To: Campus Administration / Program Leadership

The Support Services Specialist is a multifaceted student support professional responsible for coordinating student services, compliance, attendance, health services, records management, and family engagement across two campuses. This role ensures adherence to SESI Schools’ Standard Operating Procedures and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations while supporting a strengths-based, trauma-informed school culture. The Support Services Specialist collaborates closely with administrators, counselors, behavior specialists, district personnel, and families to ensure student safety, engagement, and

successful program participation. 

Compliance & Professional Practice 

  • Comply with all SESI Schools’ Standard Operating Procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including mandated reporter requirements. 
  • Participate in and complete all required professional development to maintain role compliance. 
  • Attend and actively participate in assigned campus meetings (e.g., weekly ratings meetings, operations meetings). 
  • Attend, document, and follow up on conferences, meetings, and trainings with supervisors. 
  • Develop, maintain, and audit student forms and files in compliance with SESI Schools and district requirements. 

 

Student Support & School Climate 

  • Collaborate with campus staff to promote a strengths-based, trauma-informed learning environment. 
  • Utilize schoolwide behavior supports, de-escalation strategies, and crisis intervention techniques to ensure student and staff safety. 
  • Co-facilitate social-emotional learning and engagement activities (e.g., Guided Group Interaction, Boys Council, Kids Cope, etc.). 
  • Participate in daily school operations, including morning, lunch, and/or afternoon supervisory duties. 

 

New Student Orientation & Enrollment (Area of Responsibility) 

  • Drive, track, and document student referrals through enrollment and orientation stages. 
  • Collaborate with district data specialists, behavior specialists, counselors, and administrators to secure all required enrollment documentation. 
  • Manage and monitor missing documentation reports. 
  • Prepare all required orientation and enrollment forms in advance. 
  • Oversee updates to student handbooks related to enrollment and orientation procedures. 

 

Student Records & Data Management 

  • Maintain and submit accurate entries in district and campus student information systems (e.g., Infinite Campus, Student Central). 
  • Address missing documentation reports (e.g., proof of address, immunization records). 
  • Manage student photos and required data collection forms. 
  • Coordinate and track cumulative student record transfers. 

 

Attendance & Truancy 

  • Drive, record, and monitor student attendance in compliance with district compulsory attendance policies. 
  • Prepare bi-weekly attendance reports in collaboration with district liaisons. 
  • Produce, document, and mail attendance notifications to guardians. 
  • Communicate with Juvenile Probation Officers, attendance teams, graduation coaches, and district social workers as required. 
  • Track and document unexcused absences and initiate referrals to truancy court when appropriate. 
  • Meet with students to develop attendance intervention plans. 

 

Health Services 

  • Input and audit student health verification data, including immunizations and physicals. 
  • Support medication administration, including oversight, documentation, and monthly medication count audits. 
  • Maintain campus health certifications and compliance documentation. 
  • Provide first aid as needed. 
  • Coordinate and assist with annual RN screenings (BMI, vision, hearing). 
  • Ensure campus-wide compliance with health and medication protocols. 

 

Student Transitions & Specialized Supports 

  • Support students in transition, including McKinney-Vento (homeless or at-risk) populations. 
  • Conduct student initial interviews and intake processes. 
  • Facilitate or support risk assessments, threat assessments, and crisis protocols. 
  • Participate in re-entry plan meetings as needed. 
  • Coordinate and document “Why Try” student assessments (initial and end-of-year). 

 

Communication & Outreach 

  • Develop and distribute monthly student calendars and monthly staff calendars. 
  • Create and disseminate monthly parent newsletters and quarterly newsletters. 
  • Support community outreach initiatives and student community service projects. 

 


Qualifications

  • Experience working in an educational, behavioral health, or student support setting preferred.

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and student support systems.

  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Proficiency with student information systems and data tracking tools preferred.

USD $52,000.00 - USD $62,000.00 /Yr.
