General Purpose of Job:  


Responsible for safely performing patient lifts/transfers by using appropriate body mechanics, lifting equipment, following proper procedures and working collaboratively with Lift Team members.  The Lift Team Technician assists nursing in providing basic patient care including, and not limited to mobility, repositioning, ambulation, transfers, meals, etc.  They work under the supervision and direction of an RN and/or LPN.   


Essential Duties:


This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis.  Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.


 



  • Assess patient needs before each lift/transfer/re-position including:  type of lift to be perfomed, condition of patient, and whether an RN should be present to assist.

  • Repsonds to lift requests in a timely fashion.

  • Prioritizes and organizes requests through autonomous scheduling of pages/calls and interdisciplinary communication to ensure maximum efficiency and care for patients.

  • Safely performs all patient lifts/transfers/re-positions.

  • Demonstrates effective use of mechanical lifting equipment.

  • Coordinates inventories and maintains the necessary equipment for use in patient transfers, lifts and re-positioning.

  • Participates in the orientation of new staff and on-going education and training of lift equipment and transfer techniques.

  • Actively participates in QI monitoring and documentation of all patient lift activities.

  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment.

  • Properly cleans and stores equipment and other general maintneance equipment after use.

  • Attends department meetings and complete all educational requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Documents care given and patient response in patient record.

  • Communicates significant information and changes in patient condition to the RN.

  • Actively participates as a team member. Constructively addresses patient and team issues to insure quality patient care and a collaborative work environment.

Work Experience • Previous experience as a PCT or CNA in absence of the required education. • Previous direct patient care experience of 2 years or more in absence of the required education
Education • High School diploma or GED • Successful completion of Acute Care Nursing Assistant Program OR certified nurse assistant program OR documented completion of Fundamentals of Nursing as a current student in a nursing program OR completion of a medical assistant program OR completion of an EMT or Paramedic program. •
Specialized Knowledge and Skills • Computer literate. • Interpersonal skills for effective communication. • Excellent attendance • Assumes responsibility for ongoing education and completion of mandatory requirements.
