This posting is for one (1) current vacancy.   

This position is anticipated to extend from April 1, 2026 until March 31, 2027, subject to availability of work and funding

Reporting to the Manager, Foundational Standards, the Health Planner position plans, analyzes, evaluates current or proposed health programs for the purpose of program development. Assists in the development of recommendations, strategies, and policies to improve existing health programs or substantiate the need for additional programs.  Provides recommendations based on current literature, research, epidemiological and health status information, to support the delivery of effective public health practices and services.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION 

  • Master’s degree from a post-secondary education institution that is recognized by the province of Ontario in a related health or social sciences discipline with emphasis on planning and evaluation of health programs and policies
  • Additional certification in continuous quality improvement is considered an asset

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum of one (1) year related experience in public health program planning, evaluation and policy development is preferred
  • Experience using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access

SKILLS & ABILITIES 

  • Proficient in report writing and other written communications
  • Advanced skills in public health practice, research, program planning, evaluation, policy development, community development, and project management

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Valid Ontario Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to work flexible hours when necessary
  • Must comply with the current Ontario Public Health Standards 
  • Adherence to SWPH’s policies and procedures

Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement. 

Salary Range: $44.46/hr to $52.91/hr based on verification of qualifications and experience.  (70 hours in a two-week period).  

Will receive vacation pay each pay period as well as pay in lieu of benefits following successful completion of the probationary period.  Offered enrollment in the OMERS pension plan (if enrolled, in lieu benefits will reduce). 

A criminal reference check completed within the last six (6) months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPID), inclusive of a judicial matters check, will be required of the successful candidate. 

Immunization Requirements: Fully vaccinated against COVID-19, are able to provide proof of immunization, and acknowledgement to follow Southwestern Public Health's policies and processes related to COVID-19 management in the workplace.
