Job Summary
Southern Industrial is looking for a Regional QA QC Manager for our Raleigh and Greensboro region. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the Quality Director in the development and implementation of all quality related procedures and processes; to improve project quality by recommending correct construction methods to subcontractors and company personnel prior to installation and during installation; identify substandard work; and remedy corrective action during construction. The person in this role will have extensive travel and ensure that all products/services meet requirements through being an integral part of the construction process by means of coaching, educating and mentoring.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Reviews applicable plans and specifications.
- Understands what the governing construction codes are for responsibly projects.
- Reviews NDE procedures to ensure that project and code requirements are met.
- Reviews the work scope in-order to assess which welding procedures need to be submitted for approval or need to be developed.
- Develops and at times assists project teams in the development of quality plans, ITP’s and turnover package structure.
- Ensures Quality Plan includes roles and responsibilities and that all quality related activities are included .
- Assists the project in obtaining qualified inspection personnel.
- Secures appropriate inspection equipment per project requirements.
- Establishes/Develops training for project including orientation.
- Create project audit plan.
- Determine the appropriate Procedures that will need to be employed for the project and modify as needed to meet any project specific requirements.
- Reviews applicable plans and specifications.

- Assists the project in obtaining qualified inspection personnel.
- Secures appropriate inspection equipment per project requirements.
- Monitors Site Quality Managers/Inspectors, projects and subcontractors for compliance to the Quality Program and Plan.
- Responsible for oversite of all quality related records are maintained in accordance with internal procedures.
- Monitors quality manpower needs and address any additional personnel needed with the project manager.
- Assess the any technical questions or investigations.
- Responsible for the day to day operations of the project quality personnel.
- Promote the awareness of the Project Quality Plan to the BMWC construction workers and sub-contractors.
- Insure that appropriate personnel are informed of any nonconformance and that proper corrective action is taken.
- Investigate the root cause of nonconformance and assist in development of means to avoid recurrence.
- Ensure that Measure and Testing Equipment is correctly maintained and kept in calibration.
- Performs audits per plan.
- Provide for the control and disposition of any project quality related problems.
- Coordinates Source inspections needs/requirements.
- Ensures that quality records are achieved as required.
- Participates in lessons learned.
- Demonstrate understanding of Corporate Values and Guiding Principles of SIC.
- Develop and maintain strong interpersonal skills as well as, communication, time management, and other skills necessary for effective management.
- Actively participate in training opportunities.
- Be cognizant of marketing opportunities with Clients.
- Foster client relationships.
- Manage the Quality Department and its members by:
- Performing monthly one to one’s with direct reports.
- Peform and manage the yearly performance review/evaluation process
Qualifications
Requirements
- 7 years of professional experience in construction quality management with experience managing employees.
- Certified Welding Inspector with AWS.
- Knowledge of ASME, AWS, NB, and all other applicable Codes and application of same.
- Strong service orientation, outstanding organizational skills, flexibility and professionalism.
- Excellent verbal communication as well as written skills.
- Knowledge of various construction trades, construction practices, means and methods.
- Effective time management, strong detail orientation and accuracy.
- Ability to work productively with a diverse team and provide customer service.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a constantly changing environment.
- Previous experience researching corrective options and ability to make recommendations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products – Excel, Word, Outlook; technical aptitude to learn internal systems.
- Capable of dealing with conflict and difficult people.
- Working knowledge of managing budgets.
- Ability to fulfill or assist with other duties as directed by the Assistant Quality Director or Quality Director.
Education
- High school diploma required.
- BS in Engineering, Construction Management or Industrial Technology – optional.
- Additional coursework, training and/or certification are also preferred.
Work Environment
The working conditions and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Required 40 hours per week, during working hours per project requirements. Employees are expected to have, utilize, maintain and wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by SIC, the client and any other applicable regulatory agency or management directive.
- Occasional exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions. Must be able to safely access all areas of property. Must be able to effectively use any required PPE equipment.
- Consistent Jobsite Visits.
