Southern Glazer’s offers a competitive compensation package with an hourly pay rate starting at $31.75 / hour plus $1.00 premium (which includes $.50 night shift differential) for a total hourly rate of $32.75 / hour. In determining a final offer, the company will evaluate a specific candidate's education, skills and experience and will make an offer appropriately.

Overview

The Yard Hostler is responsible for yard tractors, tractors, and straight trucks to position equipment to and from the yard and warehouse. Additional duties include operating warehouse power equipment and other assigned tasks when needed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-trip inspection and inspect trucks thoroughly
  • Move all trucks in and around the premises
  • Assist in picking products for production from various warehouse locations
  • Operate all warehouse equipment
  • Assist in picking products for production from various warehouse locations
  • Track all containers coming onto and leaving the premises
  • Perform acceptance of inbound loads (per company standards)
  • Close and security seal truck after loading is completed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Additional Primary Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency plus 1 year of experience
  • Must have a current Class A Commercial Driver s license

Physical Demands

  • Physical demands include a considerable amount of time walking, bending, reaching, standing, squatting, and stooping
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes
  • Must be able to regularly sit and operate machinery such as a forklift
  • May require working at heights of 8 feet or greater
  • Additional hours may be required during October, November, and December and other peak periods
  • Must be able to frequently lift/lower, push, carry, or pull 60 pounds (lbs.) repetitively
