Job Summary

The National Project Quotations Manager – Technology and Communications is responsible for directing and managing a team of quotation specialists to manage all of the quotations for outside plant, RUS Broadband, Telco, Sustaining Services and other Communications solutions bid opportunities with Broadband contractors, broadband engineers, and Service Provider end users.  This position reports directly into the VP, Communications Operations.  This position will work off either a bill of material or unit bid sheet provided by the customer and/or engineer. He or she will then work with key suppliers to match the best product to the bid, perform take offs of drawings as required, prepare bid pricing, and answer any related Telco questions required to complete the proposal. This individual will be the trusted advisor to a group of customers with relationships developed over years of interaction, taking the necessary actions to achieve targeted revenue and profits for the business by performing the following duties.             

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the management team of the Communications and Technology group and Irby sales representatives to establish and own the Irby relationship with key accounts.
  • Participate in creating new opportunities and sourcing new customers in the Telco/RUS, Service Provider and Broadband solutions space.
  • Serve as a manager in the Communications and Technology group for estimating, bidding and/or managing project-oriented work for both prospective and existing business relationships.
  • Assess the performance risk to Irby in executing the project to customer requirements.
  • Mentor future project estimators to develop their knowledge and skill on the products, processes, and selling required to become a Senior Estimator.
  • Understand the profit drivers of distribution and effectively influence and collaborate with customers and suppliers.
  • Undertake conceptual projects, or projects in early phases of development (including performing take-offs from engineered drawings), to create bills of material that can be delegated to other estimators or sales teams for vendor quotations.
  • Develop and utilize tools for the Communications and Technology Team to organize opportunities, manage the project in the relevant software system, and ensure payment.
  • Understand sales objectives, strategies, advertising, and promotions and works to leverage them in expanding Telco business.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to think creatively in order to provide insightful, exciting broadband sales solutions for customers.
  • Ability to collaborate and work as a team with individuals and groups across different internal departments and external customer/vendor dynamics to achieve results.
  • Technical learning: quick study on using technology in support of sales process.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, such as Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and negotiation skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the service provider or utility industry, particularly telecommunications and broadband.
  • Experience of engagement with installing contractors, engineering firms, consulting firms, and EPC organizations associated with the telecommunications industry.
  • 10+ years industry or distributor sales experience.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or greater than 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
