The Role
Solera, a global leader in digital vehicle lifecycle solutions, is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer with expertise in designing and building scalable mobile apps using Kotlin and similar technologies. The right candidate will guide and support other developers, work closely with multidisciplinary teams, and deliver top-quality Android applications that ensure an outstanding user experience.

What You’ll Do 

  • Design, development, and deployment of Android applications.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend teams to define and deliver new features.
  • Optimize applications for performance, security, and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing Android applications.
  • Stay informed about up-to-date Android development tools, popular frameworks, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in sprint planning, architecture discussions, and code reviews.
  • Escalate issues in time and have the ability to follow up for their status
  • Ability to think out of the box
  • Mentor Junior mobile application developers.

 

What You’ll Bring 

  • 8-12 years of recent Android development experience. Ability to show code snippets and/or open-source projects are bonus points!
  • Fluency in Kotlin (the language we use).
  • Knowledge of concurrency and threading in Android
  • Knowledge of Navigation component and Map related libraries.
  • Good knowledge of Android SDK.
  • Knowledge of libraries commonly used in Android development (for instance Koin, RxJava, Retrofit, Realm, Room, Coroutines).
  • Familiar with RESTful APIs and WebSocket and how to use them from Kotlin-based Android applications.
  • Experience with object-oriented concepts and design patterns.
  • Good knowledge of different Android application architecture patterns.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of security issues on mobile.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL, SQLite, Firebase
  • Hands-on experience in improving application performance.
  • Practical knowledge of observability best practices in mobile applications.
  • Hands on with unit testing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of Android application release process.

Good to have

  • Familiarity with Fleet management solutions.
  • Well versed with AI driven development best practices.
  • Knowledge on Kotlin Multiplatform.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with agile development practices
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • History of mentoring and growing technical talent
  • Product Based Company Experience Mandatory
