Layout, fabricate parts, and build electrical / electronic wiring components. Perform complete operations to fabricate, assemble and install production and / or first article units, such as control consoles, junction boxes, instrument panels, relay panels and battery racks in a manner that aligns with standards for safety, quality, velocity, and cost.
WORK PERFORMED:
Plan, layout, develop, fabricate parts, and build electrical / electronic wiring aids. Works from schematics, wiring diagrams, standard work sheets, engineering detail drawings, oral instructions, and established shop practices.
Review planning releases and engineering changes for their effect on wiring assemblies to incorporate required changes. May perform work operations under direct guidance where adequate information has not yet been determined and furnished. Select, brand, cut, route, fasten, sleeve, tie and lug wires; assemble and install wiring harnesses; locate, drill, mount, and fasten components; install in proper sequence in control consoles, junction boxes, instrument/relay panels, resistors, capacitors, filters, diodes, circuit boards, heat and speed sensors, transformers, meters, malfunction status indicators, circuit breakers, and fuses. Perform rework of the nature and level of difficulty described herein.
A successful candidate will have good organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, positive people skills and the ability to focus on minute details. Candidate must have demonstrated initiative and be self-motivated to learn new software, processes, and skills with positive energy within a dynamic team.
In addition, candidate must have the willingness to learn, capability to successfully demonstrate, and desire to routinely perform all tasks / operations of the Electric / Electronic Assembler classification in a safe manner to the quality standard; including, wire branding, material kitting, electrical panel build-up, electrical panel wiring, box/console build-up, box/console cross-wiring, visual inspections, green changes, red changes, and overhead crane use.
Minimum Qualifications
High school Diploma, GED, or Equivalent
At least 3 months of electrical assembly experience
Experience using hand and power tools
Must be willing to work any shift
Experience with wire branding, material kitting, electrical panel build-up, electrical panel wiring, box/console build-up, box/console cross-wiring, visual inspections, and re-work.
Preferred Qualifications
3 or more years of Electrical Assembly Experience
Blue print or layout schematic reading experience is highly preferred
Proven experience using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.) is preferred
Forklift & Overhead Crane Experience
Compensation & Benefits
Base rate for this role ranges from $20.00, to $29.67.
Compensation and benefits may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market, location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
