Structural Engineer – Buildings, Eastern Iowa

Shuck-Britson, the structural-focused subsidiary of Snyder & Associates, Inc,. is looking for a seasoned Structural PE to take the lead in growing our Iowa City office as we expand our presence in the Eastern Iowa vertical structures market. Our experience spans educational campuses, office buildings, industrial, medical, municipal, military, worship, and commercial/retail facilities.

We provide a wide range of structural design and evaluation services for many unique structure types, including urban skywalks, FEMA tornado shelters, historical structure renovations, retaining walls, highway noise walls, and spillway/dam repairs.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

This role will be focusing on client relationships, client development, and will oversee the design and spec development of vetical structure projects primarily located in Iowa and some bordering states where our clients are located and include both public and private entities. 

 

Assignments will involve taking a leadership role in the growth of the structures practice - assisting in the analysis, conceptualization, design and construction of projects involving vertical structures.

 

The successful candidate can expect to have regular interaction with architects, clients and consultants in disciplines affiliated to the projects.

Qualifications

  • 8 or more years' experience in design and construction oversight of vertical structure projects in the United States
  • PE designation with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Structures emphasis; Masters-level education a plus but not required
  • Leadership / project management skills a plus
  • Strong history with successful client relationship skills
  • Experience must illustrate progressively greater responsibilities in project assignments
  • Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills as this position interacts with individuals of diverse backgrounds:  architects, design technicians, civil engineers, the general public, developers, administrators, municipal leaders, non-technical clients, and staff.
  • Must be a proven problem solver, able to collaborate in a team approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep projects on scope, on budget and on time.
  • Interest in mentoring engineering and design technician staff.
