Senior Software Engineer - Messaging

As a Senior Software Engineer on our Messaging team, you will evolve, enhance and maintain the foundational platform that underpins our global communication services. You'll join a strong team of 5 engineers and play a crucial part in shaping the team's technical direction and success.

Our platform is cloud-native, deployed across multiple regions, and built on containerized Java applications. We believe in writing clean, modular software and leveraging the best open-source tools to solve challenges effectively.

As a Senior Engineer you will:

• Work closely with product team to understand and specify new features and improvements
• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain high-performance, scalable solutions that is the backbone of our messaging services.
• Participate in code reviews, mentor and support the growth of junior and mid level engineers, help foster a culture of technical excellence.
• Collaborate within an Agile team and within the wider domain to plan and execute our product roadmap.
• Participate in process improvements for the team. 
• Take ownership of the full build life cycle, from design, implementation and testing to deployment, support and incident response.

You would be successful in this role with the following skills:

• Solid JDK17+ experience
• Experience with service-oriented, event driven architecture and real-time high throughput systems
• knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis)
• Hands-on cloud development experience, AWS highly preferred (ECS, S3, SNS, SQS, Kinesis, AmazonMQ) 
• Hands on experience in CI/CD pipeline concepts, experience in BuildKite is certainly advantageous
• Good knowledge in GIT for version control
• Experience with using agentic AI as a coding assistant is beneficial
