This role in S&S Publisher Services will be responsible for supporting Simon & Schuster’s distribution client publisher division. The role will report to the Director of Client Publishing Operations and will work closely with, and provide administrative and operational support to, the operations and client services teams internally, as well as key contacts at independent publisher clients. The Assistant Manager will be instrumental in providing exceptional service to our diverse roster of independent client publishers and the position will offer growth and exposure to a wide range of publishing job functions and departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational support and assistance to client publishers on S&S systems and processes, including responding to technical or process-related inquiries, routing tickets, managing systems access, etc.
  • Support the new client onboarding process, including portal set up and access, metadata review and ingestion, and client training
  • Manage the Distribution Client Services email inbox and send client-facing communications
  • Collaborate across departments to support client and client services team needs
  • Provide support to new strategic initiatives including, but not limited to, improving client tools, developing new resources to serve clients, and implementing and continuously refining systems and processes
  • Contribute to client resources such as a monthly newsletter, wiki articles, and programming
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client information across internal systems and databases
  • Assist in coordination and logistics of client sales conferences and meetings
  • Manage a range of recurring reports for the client and operations teams

Requirements:

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across various projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication, highly developed interpersonal skills, and comfort communicating with stakeholders across levels, groups, and departments
  • A desire to learn quickly and continuously
  • A passion for book publishing, with 1–3 years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Experience with Airtable and Excel is preferred

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
