Job Summary:
The Operator/Lineman is responsible for operating all equipment necessary for outside plant (OSP) construction tasks associated with construction work orders. This position is the primary responsible party for all equipment in the crew which will entail preforming routine maintenance on the assigned equipment. The Operator/Lineman is also responsible for completing OSP construction tasks with little guidance both in a safe and efficient manner.

Qualifications Requirements:

a. Education: High School or Equivalent.

b. Experience Level: 1-2 Years of construction experience or technical training certifications.

c. Skills Summary:

i. Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds.

ii. Ability to operate all construction equipment required for OSP cable placement methods.

iii. Ability to climb poles and work aloft, as well as underground while using power tools.

iv. Ability to operate all construction equipment, including vehicles.

v. Strong verbal and communication skills.

d. Licenses or Certifications:

i. Commercial Driver’s License

ii. VA811 Computer Based Training (CBT) Excavation Certification is preferred.

iii. VDOT Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Certification is preferred.

Knowledge of: a. Microsoft office; Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook (email).
