Underwriter – Personal Lines
$55,993 - $69,422 / year minimum starting salary
Job Level: Individual Contributor
Shelter maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in geographic location, education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Please remember that this range is the starting base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position.
What You Will Be Doing:
Examine applications for the selection, rating, and evaluation of risks, and make independent decisions regarding acceptability of coverage for various lines of insurance. Evaluate existing business and exercise independent judgment regarding retention and rating of such business. Communicate with, and provide services for policyholders, Underwriting, Claims, Marketing, Customer Communications and Law Department personnel with regard to coverage, rating and risk evaluation. Perform other varied duties such as writing and analyzing reports, completing forms, serving on Departmental and Company committees, operating computer systems and making field trips to assigned districts. Mentors new underwriters.
