Job Description:

What’s the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Project Developer with deep expertise in greenfield solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, pre-development project management, land acquisition and a strong understanding of National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) interconnection processes (including permitting process) in the Philippines.

This role is divided into 2 parts:

a) Originate & handover solar + BESS projects to supplement Shell Renewable Generation’s project pipeline which would involve executing on development of grid-connected renewable energy projects from origination, permitting, land sourcing and assessment to financial close, ensuring technical, compliance of condition precedents, regulatory, and commercial success and

b) Provide project development & delivery services for hybrid and standalone BESS.

What you’ll be doing

Project Origination & Development

  • Identify and assess land, solar PV and BESS hybrid project opportunities.
  • Conduct site selection, feasibility studies, energy yield assessments, and dispatch optimization.
  • Lead permitting, licensing, and environmental compliance with NGCP, DOE, DENR, ERC, LGUs etc.
  • Provide business, technical advisory, and project management services to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead & support project development activities including design reviews, stakeholder engagement, and hybrid project structuring.
  • Direct experience of origination and acquiring land, ROW and permitting.

Grid Interconnection & NGCP Coordination

  • Manage NGCP interconnection applications, including impact studies, facility studies, and compliance with grid codes.
  • Coordinate closely with NGCP to ensure successful integration of solar and BESS projects into the transmission network.
  • Monitor and align projects with NGCP’s transmission expansion plans and ancillary service requirements.
  • Act as the primary liaison with NGCP and other relevant local authorities.

Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with regulators, landowners, LGUs, and community stakeholders.
  • Support applications for DOE Renewable Energy Service Contracts and corporate PPAs.
  • Collaborate with joint venture partners, suppliers and internal teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Financial & Technical Coordination
  • Support financial modeling and ensure projects are bankable.
  • Managing EPC partners on project execution.

What you bring

We are exploring to speak to individuals with the following:

  • Land acquisition experience required (including due diligence process)
  • Pre-Project development & EPC execution experience required
  • Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy or related field.
  • Hands on experience & networking in sourcing & resolving land & Right of Way for solar / BESS projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NGCP interconnection processes and grid code compliance related to developing grid-connected solar / BESS projects in the Philippines.
  • Strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills.
  • Preferred ability to work with joint venture partners and cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of hybrid systems integration (solar + BESS + genset).
  • Experience working with utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Strong network within the Philippine energy sector, including developers, utilities, and government agencies.
  • Fluency in English and Filipino; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide (Philippines) for project development & execution.
