Number of positions: Two (2) 

Work hours: Full time, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week 

Pay Range: $99,155 - $132,187

General Accountability

Responsible for investigating suspected fraudulent activities perpetrated against the corporation by insureds, corporate agents, motor licence issuers, body shops and/or employees for SGI and its regional operations. Liaises with public law enforcement agencies and represents the corporation in court proceedings. 

Key Accountabilities

Investigating & Interviewing

  • Investigates and conducts interviews to determine if evidence of fraud exists in order to expedite claims settlements.

  • Gathers evidence in support of a criminal investigation.

  • Utilizes company systems, internal and external data sources, including open online data sources, and available software to detect fraud and aid in investigations.

Reporting

  • Provides formal reporting on results of investigations and follows-up with the line area where fraud is substantiated.

Internal & External Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Liaises with external partners such as the Canadian Society for Industrial Security, International and Canadian Associations of Special Investigations Units and provincial law enforcement agencies to keep up to date with changes in the field.

  • Liaises with Claims managers and senior adjusters on suspicious claims.

  • Provides advice and direction to employees/management on claim issues when consulted.

  • Provides training on insurance fraud at in-house training seminars for adjusters, underwriters and law enforcement agencies’ training programs.

  • Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Specialized investigation training in the law enforcement field in accordance with the standards and requirements approved by the Saskatchewan Police Commission to be appointed a Special Constable and Peace Officer in and for the Province of Saskatchewan.

  • Six years of directly related experience as a criminal investigator in the field of interviewing, fraud, theft and arson.

CORPORATE STANDARD EDUCATION

  • A four year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Business, Social Sciences or Health.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the use of investigation best practices and investigative techniques with an emphasis on interviewing.

  • Knowledge of Federal, Provincial and Municipal laws, crime prevention and investigation techniques as well as service policies and procedures and the equipment used by law enforcement agencies.

  • Knowledge of procedures and practices in business operations.

  • Knowledge of acts, regulations, and legislation as it relates to the insurance industry.

  • Knowledge of best practices in conducting complex and sensitive investigations.

  • Ability to collect and analyze open source data available online.

  • Ability to conduct complex and sensitive investigations.

  • Ability to write technical reports.

Pay Range:$99,155.00 - $132,187.00
