We are looking for an Environmental Performance Manager to join our Environmental Regulation & Compliance Team.

This role will shape the environmental regulatory landscape for Hafren Dyfrdwy and Severn Trent Water by building strong, effective relationships with key regulators including Natural Resources Wales, Welsh Government and the Environment Agency. Acting as a senior representative, you will work with key external stakeholders to influence policy development, stay ahead of regulatory and legislative change, and ensure delivery aligns with our environmental ambitions across water and waste.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, you will identify improvement opportunities, manage regulatory risk, provide strategic advice to senior leadership, and lead responses to environmental policy change. With a strong understanding of the current and emerging regulatory environment, you will drive compliance, performance against key ODIs and KPIs, and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Lead environmental policy, regulatory engagement and influence, assessing and communicating the impact of changing environmental obligations, shaping internal strategy, enhancing environmental reputation, and representing Hafren Dyfrdwy and Severn Trent with regulators, government and national working groups.
  • Provide strategic regulatory leadership and challenge, interpreting emerging and changing environmental regulation, leading evidencebased responses to future requirements, and developing tactical and strategic plans to manage compliance risks and deliver best outcomes for the business.
  • Develop and embed environmental policy and strategy, ensuring organisational preparedness for new legislation, aligning policy change with strategic ambitions, and driving consistent delivery across operations, including pollution and spill reduction performance.
  • Advise and support senior leadership, leading external consultations, managing key regulatory relationships, supporting Executive Committee and Board engagement, and overseeing reporting, governance and performance against key environmental and regulatory commitments.
