Overview/ Job Responsibilities
Sev1Tech is seeking a candidate to support the USCG in Kearneysville, WV. This position provides senior-level engineering support for enterprise backup and recovery solutions, with a primary focus on optimizing and consolidating Commvault services to deliver a unified, scalable backup architecture across the enterprise. Duties include the following:
- Lead efforts to consolidate Commvault services and other legacy backup solutions into a unified enterprise backup and recovery platform
- Engineer, configure, and optimize Commvault environments to improve performance, reliability, and scalability
- Design and support backup, restore, and archiving solutions leveraging cloud storage technologies
- Provide technical expertise for cloud-based backups, data protection, and long-term archiving strategies
- Optimize Commvault integration with VMware virtualization platforms
- Optimize Commvault integration with NetApp storage solutions, ensuring efficiency and best practices
- Collaborate with infrastructure, systems, and storage teams to ensure backup solutions align with operational and data protection requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Active Secret Security Clearance
- Ability to be onsite 3 days a week
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related degree
- 7+ years of experience in enterprise data protection or infrastructure engineering roles
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and administering Commvault environments
- Strong knowledge of:
- Storage (SAN/NAS/object)
- Virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Windows & Linux servers
- Cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS)
- Experience with DR planning, replication technologies, and business continuity frameworks
- Proficiency with scripting (PowerShell, Python, or similar)
- Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills
Desired Qualifications
- Commvault Certifications (e.g., CCIA, CCSA, CCP).
- Experience with Kubernetes backup strategies (K10, Commvault Metallic K8s)
- Knowledge of Zero Trust / cyber recovery vault architectures
- Experience supporting large-scale DOD or Federal systems
