Summary

The Warehouse Worker is responsible for managing the daily operations of a mid-size flooring warehouse.


FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Picks and stages daily jobs; preparing materials for daily jobs; accepts and properly stores inventory, and labels inventory.
  2. Ensures work orders, status updates, shipping/receiving confirmations, and material returns are entered into the company inventory system.
  3. Monitors inventory to ensure accuracy at all times.
  4. Processes freight trucks.
  5. Conducts monthly inventory counts, identifies discrepancies and reconciles differences.
  6. Organizes and maintains the cleanliness of the warehouse and facility, as well as the responsible outside area.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required:

  • Education and Experience – High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience must involve warehouse operations.
  • Language Skills – Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, shipping documents, and material instructions. Ability to write correspondence and prepare other documents as needed. Proofreads work.
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure for basic algebraic and geometric calculations
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills – Knowledge of computer workstations and peripheral equipment; experience with various computer applications to include: database, spreadsheet, email, and word processing software.
  • Communication Skills –- Be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing in English.
  • Vision – Ability to view documents, multiple screens, and read handwritten documents. Must be able to see near visually
  • Ability to drive and maintain a driver’s license with personal car insurance
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 75 lbs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, reach with hands and arm, see, talk, and hear. The employee frequently uses hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. (i.e., pad rolls, boxes of tile or equipment) To move it as needed. Must be able to climb, reach, squat, crawl, bend, and kneel for extended periods as well as push and pull at least 100 lbs. The incumbent is required to assist with moving carpet/pad or drive a forklift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet but can be noisy, especially when operating machinery such as a forklift, blower, etc. Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
