About this role

Under general supervision, the IBM iSeries (AS/400) Systems Administrator is responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting all IBM iSeries systems at the Casino and remote offices. This includes system hardware, software, peripherals, and disaster recovery processes. The role provides technical leadership, assists in overseeing Computer Room Operators, and ensures reliable, secure, and efficient operations within the guidelines of Seneca Gaming Corporation policies, Internal Control Standards, and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade IBM iSeries (AS/400) hardware, software, and peripherals.
2.    Monitor, troubleshoot, and respond to system alerts, performance issues, and user requests.
3.    Manage system security, user roles, rights, and data protection.
4.    Oversee backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes, including PowerHA replication and role swap testing.
5.    Conduct performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
6.    Research and recommend enhancements, cost-saving opportunities, and process improvements.
7.    Document system configurations, processes, and changes.
8.    Lead projects for new or upgraded technology solutions.
9.    Provide technical leadership and supervision across multiple disciplines and mentor Computer Room Operators and System Admin I and II’s.
10.    Guide and perform system upgrades, role swaps, and advanced iSeries-related activities.
11.    Deliver professional customer service to staff and maintain a collaborative work environment.
12.    Maintain compliance with IT policies, 24x7 availability for critical issues, and adherence to attendance and regulatory guidelines.
 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience

1.    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience.
2.    Four (4) plus years of IBM iSeries (AS/400) administration experience, including LPAR, system design, and multi-environment management.
3.    Expertise with PowerHA, BRMS, Advanced Job Scheduler, SAN fabric, and external storage.
4.    Strong knowledge of LPAR, HMC, CL programming, and DB2 database administration.
5.    Proven project management experience, managing tasks and resources.
6.    Experience with system monitoring, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and security management.
7.    Proven experience with system and hardware upgrades, PTF deployment, and disaster recovery testing.
8.    Familiarity with RPG/DB2 coding is a plus.
9.    Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
10.    Prior experience in a 24/7 operational environment required; casino experience preferred.

1.    Must possess excellent communication skills.
2.    Must have the ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees, customers and vendors.
3.    Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers, vendors and employees.
4.    Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

1.    Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.
2.    Must be able to lift a minimum of sixty (60) pounds.
3.    Must be able to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.

Salary Starting Rate:

$89,960.59

Compensation is negotiable based on experience and education.
 

Each position has varying minimum qualifications. In the absence of fully qualified candidates, some requirements may be waived.
