About this role

The Receptionist, Stylist, Nail Technician, Massage Therapist or Esthetician (Primary position) who are responsible for providing four-star service to all clients in the Spa & Salon in a courteous manner is called upon to fill the position of the Spa & Salon Shift Manager (Secondary position) when needed. The Spa/ Salon Shift Manager oversees and assists with daily responsibilities of the Spa and Salon Department’s front-line personnel for the hotel including Spa, Pool, Fitness Room, and Salon. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Must have the knowledge and ability to perform the duties necessary for each position as their primary position’s duties.
2.    Answer incoming calls and book appointments accordingly, take detailed and accurate messages, transfer calls if appropriate, and take initiative to resolve problems or provide requested information.
3.    Listen and resolve complaints/problems from customers.
4.    Receive payment and record receipts for services.
5.    Maintain inventory of supplies and requisition items on a weekly basis or when needed.  
6.    Keep a current record of staff member schedules and availability.
7.    Perform duties such as taking care of plants and straightening magazines to maintain lobby or reception area.
8.    Greet guests in a cordial and professional manner.
9.    Promote the sale of salon products and services.
10.    Provide information about establishment, such as location of departments or offices, employees within the organization, or services provided.
11.    Assist the department managers as needed.
12.    Maintain a current understanding of all policy and guidelines regarding information security including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy.  Understand and comply with all information security policies and procedures at all times.
13.    Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicate in a pleasant, friendly and professional manner at all times.  Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers and staff.
14.    Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
15.    Must complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months from commencement of employment.
16.    Attend all necessary meetings.
17.    Duties, responsibilities, requirements and expectations pertaining to this job are subject to change as needed.  Hours are determined by a 24-hour schedule.

ADDITIONAL SECONDARY POSITION DUTIES:
1.    Implement standards and procedures to ensure the highest level of guest service.
2.    Manage Spa, Pool and Salon on assigned shift.  Responsible for opening and closing, including cash drawer procedures.
3.    Research new and innovative ways of improving guest satisfaction and work applications.
4.    Direct investigation into causes of customer complaints and employee issues and responds accordingly in conjunction with Spa Manager.
5.    Enforce compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules and health regulations.
6.    Promote positive public/employee relations at all times.
7.    Maintain a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility. 
8.    Adhere to Purchasing, HR, and TERO compliance requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 

Education/Experience:
1.    Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
2.    High school diploma or equivalent required.
3.    Three (3) to five (5) years of administrative/clerical work experience preferred.  
4.    Must have at least one (1) year of Customer Service Supervisory / Leadership role.
5.    Must have Spa and/or Salon work experience.
6.    Must currently maintain position of a Receptionist, Massage Therapist, Esthetician, Nail Technician or Stylist.
7.    Experience with money handling and operating cash register.
8.    Must have knowledge of Spa Services, Treatments, and Products.
9.    Must have computer skills necessary and be able to operate SpaSoft system and spreadsheets.
10.    Must present a professional appearance and demeanor in dealing with the public.

1.    Must possess excellent communication skills to deal effectively with customers and employees.
2.    Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees and customers.
3.    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
4.    Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
5.    Possess proven leadership ability to provide general guidelines to subordinate personnel and direction toward short-term developmental goals.
6.    Must perform duties while utilizing discretion and respecting the privacy of guests.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud. When on the casino floor, the noise levels increase to loud.  Must be able to work in an environment where smoking is permitted.
1.    Must be able to work with spa products and equipment.  
2.    While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
3.    May work with cleaning chemicals, and must be able to properly dilute, use and insure their safety, as well as others who encounter the chemicals.
4.    Lifting and moving up to fifty (50) pounds.
5.    Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the hotel for long periods of time (95%).
6.    Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, resort environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.


 

Salary Starting Rate:

$16.00

Compensation is negotiable based on experience and education.
 

Each position has varying minimum qualifications. In the absence of fully qualified candidates, some requirements may be waived.
