Primary Purpose

The Technology & Digital Capability & Product Owner Senior II – Employment Contract position partners with HR and IT to execute the systems and data vision, driving modernization, automation, governance, and operational efficiency across HR systems, data, and processes. This role performs hands-on reporting and analytics to support executive requests, operational reporting, and data discovery. It also thrives in a collaborative environment and contributes effectively as part of a small, high-impact team. The role shapes the product vision for assigned components and aligns delivery with strategic goals. It leads backlog refinement, facilitates cross-functional collaboration, and ensures digital solutions enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops and communicates a clear product vision that aligns with strategic objectives.
  • Oversees backlog refinement and prioritization across multiple product components.
  • Leads cross-functional workshops to define features and resolve conflicting requirements.
  • Establishes success metrics and monitors product performance against KPIs.
  • Guides development teams in applying agile principles and best practices.
  • Identifies opportunities for innovation and process optimization within the product lifecycle.
  • Aligns stakeholder expectations and negotiates priorities to maximize product value.
  • Provides mentorship to junior product owners and team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education

  • Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Experience

  • Typically requires 8 years of related experience.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Product Lifecycle Management - The handling of a good as it moves through the typical stages of its product life: development and introduction, growth, maturity/stability, and decline.
  • Agile Methodologies - A project management approach utilized in software development, which is characterized by the division of tasks into short phases of work (known as sprints) and frequent reassessment and adaptation of plans.
  • User Experience Design - Conceptualizes, projects and makes enhancement of the user's interaction and engagement with an IT product and/or service based on a robust analysis and understanding of the product and/or service's performance vis-a-vis the user's desired experience and outcomes.
  • Product Strategy - A product strategy outlines a company's strategic vision for its product offerings by stating where the products are going, how they will get there and why they will succeed.
  • Product Discovery - Develops products based on deep understanding of customer insights, and continually testing hypotheses for ways to improve your product.
  • Backlog Prioritization Management - Documents a prioritized list of work for the development team that is derived from the roadmap and its requirements. The most important items are shown at the top of the product backlog so the team knows what to deliver first.
  • User Story Definition - Describes and outlines a general explanation of a software or product feature written from the perspective of the end users to ensure the software or product will provide value to customers.
  • Customer Needs Analysis - A structured, methodical approach to understanding customers' relationship with, and perception of, an organization's products or services and its brand.
  • Product Roadmapping - Maps out the vision and strategic objectives for a product in a visual way, making it easier for development teams to share and collaborate.
  • Data Analysis - Measuring and managing organization data, identifying methodological best practices and conducting statistical analyses.
