Job Description
Select’s Pipeline Operator is responsible for the operation of pumping equipment including electric, diesel, gas and/or automatic pumps; control of equipment and systems to ensure their safe, economical and efficient operation; and route water products through pipelines at main-line or terminal stations according to instructions at destination. All employees will represent the Company in a professional manner.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
- Each employee is responsible and accountable for conducting job tasks in a safe, healthy an environmentally cautious manner.
- Wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE) related to task being performed as well as using all required safety equipment and procedures.
- Maintain equipment and ensure equipment is operating proficiently in compliance with regulatory and environmental agencies.
- Turn valves to start engines to pump water through station.
- Read flow and pressure meters and additionally turns valves to vary pumping rate line pressure, according to specifications.
- Turn hand wheel or direct electric drive to move water through station.
- Operate pipelines to open or close pipeline valves to direct flow of oil to storage tanks according to grade; to direct flow of water through station along pipeline, according to destination; or to switch water to alternative pipelines to prevent contamination between grades.
- Inspect pumping equipment to detect malfunctioning leak.
- Lubricate machinery and also repairs as well as adjust pumps equipment, using hand tools.
- Record pressures, temperature, flow rates, and also maintains records of oil stock oil receipts.
- May pump natural gas or natural gas liquid products.
- May gauge as tanks to test oil.
- May use radiotelephone equipment.
- Sample and test water and/or waste water to ensure no hazardous materials are present.
- Monitor hourly readings and complete required daily paperwork and reports in a timely, accurate, and legible manner.
- Maintain contact with scada dispatch or supervisor to receive instructions.
- Perform visual inspections of equipment.
- Comply with all safety rules according to OSHA standards and insure that they are followed by all Truck Drivers, employees and visitors at the work site.
- Maintain proper cleanliness of work area.
- Assist other Operators when needed.
- Promptly report all work incidents to Company personnel including: Supervisor, Dispatch, Management, and HSE Representative.

Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- Must be 18-years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Familiarity with oil and gas operations, pipeline operations and UIC wells.
- Knowledge of general water piping systems, pump, motors, valves, meters and other related equipment preferred.
- Must pass pre-employment fitness for duty test (FIT test).
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Compensation Information
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Physical Demands and Exposures
- Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts; exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and dust is expected.
- Exposure to noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection.
- Prolonged sitting, standing, walking.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to individually lift: Maximum 50 lbs.
