About this role

Physical Security Systems Audit & Governance Specialist

This role is a hands-on specialist responsible for auditing, validating, and governing enterprise physical security systems with a primary focus on access control and video management platforms (e.g., Lenel OnGuard, Milestone, or comparable systems). The position blends deep back-end physical security engineering expertise with program/project management and vendor governance to ensure systems are correctly designed, configured, documented, and delivered to enterprise standards.

The specialist will oversee security integrator performance, validate quality and completeness of system implementations, manage milestones, and provide executive-ready reporting on progress, risks, and performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities

Audit & Validation

  • Conduct detailed configuration audits of enterprise access control and video management systems, including badging, readers, panels, cameras, storage, and alarms.
  • Verify database configuration elements such as access levels, badge templates, time zones, schedules, linking, camera recording policies, retention settings, redundancy, and failover.
  • Validate cybersecurity hardening and system configurations in alignment with internal standards and industry best practices.
  • Partner with IT teams to review and validate network and server configurations, including ports, certificates, encryption, backups, redundancy, and patch levels.
  • Perform site acceptance testing (SAT/FAT/UAT) and spot checks to confirm functional requirements, exception handling, and system performance.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure integrator work complies with internal security policies, engineering standards, and applicable compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, SOC controls, privacy requirements).
  • Maintain complete, auditable documentation including as-builts, configuration baselines, test scripts, acceptance criteria, change logs, and approved waivers.
  • Support security risk assessments, identify configuration gaps or deficiencies, and drive corrective actions through to resolution.

Program & Project Management

  • Build and maintain integrated schedules tracking configuration completion, dependencies, risks, and milestones across multiple sites and concurrent projects.
  • Lead regular progress reviews with security integrators, managing punch lists, defects, remediation plans, and delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate closely with Corporate Security, IT, Facilities, and Project Management Offices to plan cutovers, migrations, upgrades, and new deployments with minimal operational disruption.

Performance Reporting & Metrics

  • Define, track, and publish KPIs and SLAs for integrator performance (e.g., first-pass yield, defect density, rework rates, cycle time, schedule adherence, on-time delivery).
  • Develop dashboards and executive-level updates summarizing program status, risks, and trend analyses.
  • Benchmark vendor performance across regions and providers; recommend and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Technical Leadership

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for back-end physical security engineering concepts, integrations, and API-based data exchanges between systems.
  • Advise on standards for system architecture, naming conventions, access level design, camera codec/bitrate/retention strategies, storage sizing, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Support long-term roadmap planning for platform upgrades, consolidation efforts, and future deployments.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise physical security systems, with strong emphasis on access control and video management platforms (e.g., Lenel OnGuard, Milestone, or comparable systems).
  • Strong back-end configuration and engineering knowledge, including databases, networking fundamentals, Windows Server environments, and digital certificates.
  • Proven program or project management experience supporting multi-site deployments and vendor delivery, including schedule, risk, and change control.
  • Hands-on experience auditing and validating physical security system configurations.
  • Ability to generate metrics, reports, and executive-ready summaries; proficiency with Excel and at least one BI or reporting tool (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Strong vendor management skills with the ability to hold integrators accountable to quality, cost, and schedule expectations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong documentation discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

(Highly desired, not required)

  • Industry certifications such as Lenel OnGuard, Milestone (MCDE/MCIT), ASIS PSP or CPP, PMP or PgMP, ITIL, CISSP, or Security+.
  • Experience using tools such as Confluence or Jira for change and incident tracking, and MS Project for scheduling.
  • Familiarity with scripting or APIs for data extraction and validation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, REST APIs).
  • Knowledge of security, privacy, and compliance frameworks, including security-by-design and privacy-by-design principles.

Working Environment

  • Fast-paced, multi-project enterprise environment supporting critical security infrastructure
  • Regular collaboration with cross-functional teams and external vendors
  • Combination of strategic oversight and hands-on technical validation
  • May require travel or site visits depending on project scope
