What you get to do:

Reporting to the Manager, Retail Product Development, the Retail Product Developer will work on the creation and execution of compelling exclusive products, from ideation to implementation that aligns with the core objectives of the Retail department and achieves sales growth metrics and targets. Responsibilities include: product design, vendor relations, product quality, compliance, merchandise selection, park product placement, vendor negotiations, and cost of goods received in assigned areas across a multi-channel high growth environment.

  • Develops exclusive, compelling product, from ideation to implementation, aiding the Manager, Retail Product Development and Retail department to build and maintain a competitively dominant merchandise assortment that enhances guest satisfaction and brand value by meeting demographic needs.
  • Works with the Retail Product Development team and cross-functional partners to develop short and long-range product plans that use market research and trends to drive revenue growth.
  • Identify and predict assigned area product trends to direct future development needs.
  • With the support of the planning organization and Manager, Retail Product Development, analyzes business trends and develops strategies for growth or recovery for assigned areas.
  • Collaborates with planning organization on replenishment needs and facilitates re-orders within assigned areas as needed.
  • Completes negotiations with vendor(s) for unit cost, production charges, material specifications, minimum order quantities, warehouse merchandise, delivery schedules, lead times and returns to vendor. Works with manufacturer to ensure all products exceeds all applicable safety testing requirements.
  • Provides frequent product initiative updates to key stakeholders.
  • Positively contributes to an environment that promotes personal development creating high morale amongst entire team and sets the example for development.
  • Ensures product safety, testing, and compliance with federal guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What it takes to succeed:

  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in Retail through purchasing, development, and or design. Prior theme park experience is preferred.
  • Communicable expertise in product safety compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of creative product development process with strict attention to detail, vendor sourcing, and merchandise strategic planning.
  • Understanding of the relationship between product design, cost management, assortment planning and compliance and its impact on profitability.
  • Prior experience of import sourcing preferred.
  • High proficiency in Excel.
