About this role

SUMMARY:  The Shag Driver will drive shag truck; pull and back 48 and 53-foot trailers. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  This list is not intended to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned. 

    

  • Comply with Federal, State, County, City, OSHA and Company rules and regulations. 
  • Safely operate shag truck on the company property  
  • Maintain required safety and ergonomic processes to insure a safe working environment and meet company goal of an injury free workplace. 
  • Drive shag truck; pull and back trailers.  Must be able to spot the correct trailers in the correct docks. 
  • Use of electronic equipment to perform tasks and communicate with Logistics Manager.  
  • Physically wash out trailers as needed 
  • Maintain a wash and shag report. 
  • Set reefer units at proper temperatures. 
  • Must be able to follow directions 
  • Maintain truck cleanliness and track truck maintenance as needed. 
  • Understand and perform inspections of equipment as required by USDOT rules and regulations. 
  • Monitor truck parking lot 
  • Communicate issues with vendor trailers that are not working correctly.

EXPERIENCE:  High School Diploma preferred but not required. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.  Ability to work in a diverse workforce, maintain effective working relationships with peers and management and follow work instruction. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties of this job.  Exposed to outside weather and temperatures. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Multiple actions in and out of truck to hook up and unhook trailers.  Steps up and down from truck cab.  Will occasionally park trucks; pull and lift up to 100 pounds. 

 

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:  The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management.

Today, pork products are marketed into domestic markets under the PrairieFresh® Premium Pork brand and international markets under the Seaboard Farms® and St. Joe Pork® brands
