Science Systems and Applications, Inc (SSAI) seeks a motivated and outgoing scientific programmer/analyst to support mission related work at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. This position is designed for a scientist/programmer with experience in working with large scientific datasets to support a data processing system, to transform lower-level mission data into higher-level science data products for distribution to the scientific community.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Delivery and installation of new processing software releases, and test runs.
• Creating test plans and test reports for software deliveries as needed.
• Overseeing the daily operations of the system, including ingestion, processing, and distribution.
• Managing distribution of the products to associated scientists.
• Maintaining knowledge of all aspects of system processes with the ability to identify key leaders for task execution.
• Spearheading the optimization of the software management system to boost productivity and align with the Science team's time requirements.
• Maintaining, updating and documenting all procedures.
Required Qualifications
• MS or equivalent in a STEM related field or comparable work experience.
• 10+ years of experience in scientific programming and data analysis.
• Advanced proficiency in programming with Fortran, C, Python, Version control with GitHub, Linux.
• Significant experience with processing of Remote Sensing data.
• Facility with large data sets.
• Good communication skills
Desired Qualifications
• BS or higher in a physical science, math, or computer science fields.
• Experience in programming for scientific applications.
• Familiarity with remote sensing.
• Familiarity with the space environment.
• Familiarity with laser altimetry.
• Experience with other tools such as MatLab, IDL, Mathematica.
• Familiarity with Pandas, Jupyter, Git
