Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a creative and highly skilled Network Engineer who is passionate about designing secure, resilient, and scalable network infrastructure that supports mission‑critical operations.

You will collaborate with talented, motivated colleagues in a hands‑on environment. We’re seeking an engineer who thrives in a Cisco‑centric ecosystem, learns new technologies quickly, and is eager to contribute to a fast‑evolving infrastructure landscape.

As a Network Engineer, a typical day might include the following:  

  • Design, implement, research, secure and support networking systems.

  • Identify and mitigate risks inherent in IT systems.

  • Monitor, improve, troubleshoot and perform capacity planning for systems.

  • Support and troubleshoot complex user requests.

  • Plan and manage projects.  Create and maintain concise and thorough IT documentation.

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience in an IT environment

  • You have 2+ years of related experience in a technical environment

  • You have knowledge of IT methods, practices, procedures, and policies

  • You have a desire for life-long learning to maintain a comprehensive understanding of evolving technologies

  • You have experience teaching and mentoring IT interns and associates

  • You embrace dynamic, fast-paced environments, and adapt well to rapid change

  • You can participate in after hours on call rotation

  • You practice absolute confidentiality and unquestionable ethics

  • You have excellent customer service commitment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical background and knowledge of manufacturing and/or engineering processes

  • Ability to meet Motor Vehicle Report Qualification Standards of SEL

  • Experience using programming languages and script writing

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use a ladder and/or scissor lift

  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs

Pay Range Data

Network Engineer, $84,200 - $124,500. We base our starting pay offer on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills. Our ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location.
