About the RoleWe are hiring a Creative Director / Design Director to lead and elevate our global design function across eCommerce and brand touchpoints.
This role owns the visual direction, quality standards, and design systems that support current platforms (such as Amazon) and future channels including DTC, marketplaces, and B2B environments.
You will work in an onsite setup at Shenzhen, China (one of the major cities in Southern China near Hong Kong), cross-cultural environment and will be accountable not only for creative quality, but also for design efficiency, team stability, and long-term scalability.
This is not a platform-specific executor role, and it is not a hands-off management role. We are looking for a player–coach: someone who can lead strategically, decide decisively, and step in to execute when conditions require it.
What You Will DoeCommerce & Brand Visual Leadership
- Lead visual direction across multiple eCommerce platforms and brand touchpoints
- Ensure visual consistency while adapting design to platform-specific constraints and goals
- Use design to clearly communicate value, build trust, and support conversion across channels
Trend Awareness & Category Leadership
- Stay ahead of visual, UX, and communication trends across eCommerce and brand design
- Translate trends into practical, on-platform differentiation, not decorative experimentation
- Proactively evolve visual standards so our designs are recognizable, referenced, and copied—while remaining compliant with platform and category requirements
- Balance innovation with consistency, ensuring new directions strengthen rather than dilute the brand
Packaging, Content & Brand as One System
- Treat packaging, eCommerce content, and brand assets as a connected ecosystem
- Translate product features, compliance constraints, and selling points into clear visual language
- Maintain consistency across SKUs, product lines, and brand touchpoints
Design Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor a design team across multiple time zones
- Define, enforce, and continuously raise design standards and quality benchmarks
- Provide clear, structured, and actionable feedback in a remote environment
- Address quality and performance issues directly to protect team standards and stability
Project & Priority Management
- Manage multiple design projects across brands, platforms, and regions
- Use project management tools (e.g., Asana, Planner, Jira, ClickUp, or similar) to track requests, set priorities, and maintain accountability
- Break down ambiguous or complex requests into clear, executable tasks
- Enforce priorities and trade-offs when everything is “urgent”
- Prevent the team from being overwhelmed by fragmented or ad-hoc demands
- Has clear ownership to approve, defer, or reject design requests based on priority and impact
Hands-On Design Ownership
- When team capacity is constrained, quality drops, or timelines are at risk, personally execute design work to stabilize delivery
- Produce or revise production-ready assets, including:
- Use hands-on execution strategically to unblock teams and stabilize delivery
Systems, Decision-Making & Scalability
- Build and maintain scalable design systems, visual guidelines, templates, and workflows
- Establish clear review, approval, and decision-making mechanisms
- Ensure long-term scalability and consistency across different eCommerce contexts
- Make timely decisions under uncertainty and take ownership of outcomes
- Uses clear signals (conversion, consistency, rework reduction, delivery speed) to evaluate design effectiveness
AI & Modern Workflow Enablement
- Actively apply AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Nano Banana Pro, or similar) to explore design directions, support ideation, and improve productivity
- Continuously evolve workflows using new tools and methods
Must-Have QualificationsWithin the first 3–6 months, success means visibly improved design quality and consistency across platforms, faster and more predictable delivery, clearer design standards, and a team that operates with less escalation and more confidence.
