Job Description/Responsibilities
Bio: The Government Compliance Specialist in the plant lead for all government compliance activities. Balances and submits 5110.28 report, payment of FET taxes semi-monthly, balance case goods and bulk inventories and make adjustments, provide audit support, ensure paperwork accuracy of processing & bottling documents and BOLs. Completes export documentation (5100.11). Work with IT to ensure reports for Government Records are accurate and facilitate improvements when needed.
- Maintain all compliance matters with TTB, including: timely submission of reports such as 5110.28 (Processing Operations), payment of FET taxes (5000.24A Excise Tax Return), State Taxes, exports (5100.11), and audit support. Responsible for balancing case goods, bulk inventories, and making adjustments. Verify tax rates on bottled product and shipments for accuracy. Provide support during physical inventory of case goods, ensure stockroom integrity and lot integrity. Maintains processing & bottling files. Ensure adherence to Personal Safety, Food Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies and Practices.
- Prepare semi-monthly FET reports for submission to TTB. These must be done in an accurate and timely manner. After preparing and reviewing the FET reports for submission ensure they are distributed to TTB, customers, and the corporate office. These bi-monthly FET submissions are critical as they represent significant financial impact for the company (in the millions).
- Accurately prepare and submit all reports to TTB, corporate office, plant personnel, state government, and customs in a timely manner. Work with IT to ensure system reports for Government Records are accurate, reliable, and facilitate improvements or updates as necessary.
- Assist TTB personnel during on site audits or general inquiries. All government records documentation should be readily accessible and organized for auditing. Understand TTB regulations and potential focus areas for auditors.
- Perform routine internal audits of various functions including but not limited to production, inventory and plant to ensure compliance with US Customs recordkeeping/proper transaction recording requirements. Accounts for all inventory held in our Customs Bonded Warehouse (CBW) and ensures that records support all quantities on hand. Assist with US Customs audits and compliance. Maintain up to date standard operating procedures for US Customs and record retention. Ensure adherence to Personal Safety, Food Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies and Practices.
- Develop and maintain solid professional working relationships inside and outside the company. Set a positive example and act in a manner consistent with company values.
- Work closely with Supervisor to improve work-related skills, which will lead to improved performance and benefit my professional growth as well as the company's success. Implement a Performance Development Plan for myself that will facilitate my improvement in at least 1 competency at any given time and facilitate improving my performance against position description outcomes.
- Utilize CDS to determine training needs and identify curriculum, programs and content to prepare for career opportunities within the company. Provide feedback to manager regarding on-the-job learning opportunities.
Qualifications/Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or relevant field
- Excellent oral & written communication skills
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office, systems and technology
- Strong attention to detail, planning and organizational skills
- Demonstrate the ability to work as a team as well as self-directed
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with external/internal auditors
- Previous experience with ERPs
PREFERRED
- Knowledge of import/export processes/regulations (FDA, US Customs)
- Experience in Alcohol Beverage Industry or CPG overall
- Experience with process/receiving activities
- Experience in a compliance related field such as TTB, Customs, IRS, auditing
