We are hiring for a Department Manager, Wine at our Whatcom Save-On-Foods location in Abbotsford, BC.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the successful applicant must have open availability.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.  
  • Ensuring the department executes and achieves operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising. 
  • Engaging and retaining team members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning. 
  • Communicating key messages and business objectives to team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. 
  • Supporting the management team in reviewing and analyzing income statements and identifying opportunities to improve performance within the department.  
  • Reviewing and interpreting department financial reports and presenting KPIs to the management team. 
  • Analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.  
  • Assisting the management team with implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.  
  • Leading inventory counts/period end of the department and resolving issues as required.  
  • Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods of time, and working in hot/cold environments.    

You have:

  • 1-3 years of retail experience.  
  • Leadership experience is an asset. 
  • Food Safe Certification. 
  • A post-secondary education in a business related field is an asset.   
  • Experience and/or knowledge with:
    • Achieving sales targets and profitability.  
    • Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales. 
    • Human Resources (e.g. training, development, coaching and mentoring). 
    • Employee Relations and knowledge of the collective agreement (if applicable).
    • Scheduling. 
  • Proficiency with computer applications.
