Overview

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a Quality Control Engineer/Inspector to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS).

The Quality Control Engineer/Inspector provides quality control support to operations and project teams for construction or non-construction projects. Performs quality control inspection and surveillance activities in support of operations, project and/or maintenance activities. 

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, witnesses, tests, performs surveillance and prepares documentation to verify construction activities are performed in accordance with established criteria.
  • Identifies and documents nonconformance's.
  • Supports verification that resolutions are in accordance with approved dispositions.
  • Coordinates with internal sources to resolve quality issues and provides status of the inspection/test activities for the work activity.
  • Reviews supplier's and subcontractor's quality verification documentation for traceability and specification compliance.
  • Initiates quality release documents that indicate the subcontractor has fulfilled the contract quality documentation requirements.
  • Performs visual inspections of material and equipment when received to ensure freedom from damage and that traceability is maintained as required.
  • Performs mathematical calculations or conversions to determine correct values to determine acceptance/rejection of an item or activity.
  • Conducts final walk-downs for work activity completion and verification that all work is completed, inspected and documented.
  • Attends status meetings to provide input from the quality control department.
  • Monitors operations maintenance, subcontractors and supplier’s workmanship, installation of material and equipment for quality control compliance.
  • Reviews design output documents in accordance with approved procedures to establish inspection requirements in quality assurance procedures, inspection plans and/or work packages.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED, Associates Degree, Bachelor's degree in a non-technical discipline, or Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (engineering or science) and practical work experience in predictive maintenance or related areas

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical degree preferred
  • Previous/current quality certifications
  • Certification with continuing training is required for performance of inspection and contract surveillance activities.
  • Specialized training may also be required to support certain technical areas.

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract. Located in Aiken, South Carolina, SRMC is a limited liability company formed by nuclear operations and environmental remediation global leaders BWXT, Amentum, and Fluor. Savannah River Mission Completion, LLC (SRMC) has been awarded the Savannah River Site Integrated Mission Completion Contract (SRS IMCC) by U.S Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management (DOE EM). SRMC comprises parent company BWX Technologies, Inc. with partners Amentum and Fluor. Critical scope covered under SRS IMCC includes, but is not limited to: Liquid Waste Stabilization/Disposition, and may include Nuclear Materials Management and Stabilization; Project Management and Support Services; Storage of Liquid Radioactive Waste; Remediation, Treatment, and Disposal of Nuclear Materials, Spent Nuclear Fuel; Remediation and Treatment of Contaminated Surface Water, Groundwater and Soils; and, Decontamination of Nuclear Facilities and Equipment. The contract has an estimated ceiling of approximately $21 billion over a 10-year ordering period.
