The Basics

Location: Northgate, SK

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience

Days/Hours: This job will be 1st shift, 8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri with overtime as needed.

Equipment Used: Various diagnostic and repair tools

Equipment Repaired: Various equipment that handles and moves grain, chemicals, fertilizer, propane and lumber. This includes the facilities and powered mobile equipment

What you’ll be doing:

This Industrial Maintenance Operator position will be a hands-on job and will include installing, repairing, maintaining, trouble shooting, inspecting and refurbishing various equipment. This will include a variety of trades: mechanical, electrical and PLCs, welding and fabricating, hydraulics, pneumatics, carpentry, concrete, painting, etc. The Industrial Maintenance Team will work extended hours and callbacks on short notice.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilizes safe work practices and executes all risk management processes flawlessly
  • Assist in the development of and apply predictive, preventative and reactive maintenance programs
  • Maintain and execute the required scheduled maintenance activities for all on site equipment
  • Effectively coordinate the required facility or equipment downtime to minimize business interruptions and lead coordination with external contractors as required
  • Trouble Shoot and problem solve plant equipment problems
  • Provide input to management to ensure reliable and cost-effective alternatives are explored and evaluated, using reliable resources to procure quotes and information
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and standardization of processes
  • Safe use of equipment including forklift, skid steer loader, aerial lifts, and power tools
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Monitor, sort, store, and upkeep spare parts inventory
  • Maintain a clean and worker friendly shop environment
  • Assist in the process of purchasing maintenance related items as approved by Management
  • Teach, mentor and train junior workers to develop trade related skills
  • Other duties as required for the success of the site

 

Skills and Experience

  • Unwavering safety mindset and commitment to managing risk
  • Electrical maintenance and/or Welding experience considered an asset
  • Motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of conveyer belts, drags, conveyers, large gear boxes, large electric motors and bucket elevators
  • Agricultural industry experience considered an asset

 

Requirements to be successful in this position:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years’ experience as a Maintenance Mechanic and/or Millwright/Electrician in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Other related or combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Good analytical, mechanical and problem-solving skills
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation
  • For safety reasons, must be able to read, write, understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English
  • Available to work overtime and weekends
  • Professional demeanor (safety conscious, quality of job performance, cleanliness, and verbal communications)
  • Ability to engage and interact with third-party contractors and suppliers
  • Strong work ethic
  • Able to pass a criminal background check
  • Previous leadership or lead experience an asset
  • Trade Journeyman certificate or an engineering degree or certificate an asset

  • This job can be physically strenuous
  • You will be expected to be able to work in tight and confined spaces
  • You will work at heights
  • You will need the ability to frequently lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally more
  • This job will require the ability to ascend/descend ladders
  • You will be required to wear PPE
