What you'll be doing:
  • Partner with dispatch in safely transporting material to and from transloading facilities
  • Operate a Locomotive, perform some rail switching in the afternoons (we provide training)
  • Fuel and clean trucks; perform pre and post-trip inspections, complete paperwork, and reviews communication board
  • Ensure that the truck meets or exceeds safe operational standards
  • Report maintenance issues to the maintenance crew
  • Understand critical service requirements and see they are met
  • Maneuver and connect heavy hoses
  • Complete required paperwork, including manifests, driver logs, recaps, accident reports in compliance with DOT regulations and Savage Safety rules
  • Interact with other Savage and customer management and personnel on a daily basis.; understand customer service and have strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills
What you'll need: 
  • Class A CDL
  • Six months of experience with pneumatic trailers and 53 ft. van trailers
  • High School or GED
  • Mountain driving experience in the snow and ice is preferred
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass background check and drug/alcohol screening
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safety and following protocols
  • Understanding of customer service principles
  • Compliance with DOT regulations and completion of required paperwork

Physical Requirements of this role:

  • The schedule will be 9 am to 9 pm, Friday to Tuesday
  • Climb into and out of cab multiple times per shift
  • Climb a ladder and work at heights if needed
  • Lift 50 or more pounds occasionally
  • Drive and work in adverse weather conditions
  • Hook and unhook hoses and open and close valves
