The Surgical Procedural Scheduler works directly with surgeon offices, and Perioperative area leadership to accurately schedule patients for surgical procedures including pre-admission testing appointments in OR, Oncology, Endoscopy and Bronchoscopy Lab, Cath Lab and other procedure areas utilizing a block-scheduling system in a way that best maximizes surgeon satisfaction while also managing the overall utilization of the procedural areas. Surgical Scheduler will also ensure appropriate equipment, room specifications and preference cards are selected in order to accurately support the scheduled case and best facilitate the daily schedule. Provides excellent communication and support to patients, physicians, leadership, and staff. Aids the OR desk with department flow, communications, add on and emergent case scheduling, clerical and other support duties.
- Require two (2) years of previous healthcare experience.
- Prefer demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
- Prefer knowledge of International Classification of Diseases Index (ICD-10), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT-4), and Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) to include implementation and maintenance.
- Prefer effective communication skills, including the ability to handle difficult customer situations.
- Prefer the ability to type a minimum of fifty (50) words per minute.
- Prefer the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Prefer experience or background in surgery case information/operations.
HS EQ: High School Diploma, GED or Certificate
