Job Summary

The Legal Operations Specialist will work within the Legal Affairs department of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System (SMHCS) and encompasses a wide range of responsibilities focused on maintaining efficient legal operations and providing support for administrative matters. This position will have a key role in supporting various internal processes, including, but not limited, to contract management, invoice management, claims management and legal matter management. This individual will play a pivotal role in tracking law firm billing, ensuring accurate record retention, project management, and optimizing legal department resources. This role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, a steadfast positive attitude and motivation to gain experience in an in-house legal department setting.


Required Qualifications

- Require a minimum of two (2) years of experience within an in-house legal department, law firm, or comparable experience in another support services department.
- Require a bachelor's degree. Additional relevant experience will be considered on a year-for-year basis in lieu of degree requirement.


Preferred Qualifications

- Prefer prior experience or specific knowledge of legal systems and technology, as well as familiarity with non-disclosure agreements.
- Prefer highly proficient using MSOffice (Outlook, Word, Excel) with the demonstrated ability to learn and use new computer software and systems.
- Prefer the understanding of and experience with claims, risk management, and/or litigation processes.
- Prefer knowledge of legal terminology and experience with drafting documents.
- Prefer demonstrated expertise in creating and maintaining documents and formatting, inputting, proof-reading, editing, retrieving, and copying same.
- Prefer excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Prefer excellent time management skills and attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy and success in delivering to key deadlines.
