Performs all duties without direct supervision. This position is responsible for adhering to established service standards and for reinforcing service standards with all employees. Independently, performs skilled technical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices. Incumbent may be expected to be present during the clinical use of equipment in area of expertise. Provides assistance to technicians and operators of medical devices. Participates in disaster, fire, and other emergencies; observes all hospital safety practices and regulations. Reports to emergency call-ins when necessary, by responding on-site.
- Require an associate degree in electronics (preferably biomedical) or equivalent military electronics training (preferably biomedical).
- Require a minimum of two (2) years of progressively complex experience (troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, design, and modification) as a hospital-based biomedical engineer technician; Four (4) years of servicing complex electronic equipment will be considered.
- Require schedule flexibility with the ability to work shift work or weekends as required.
- Require the ability to obtain a level 2 AHCA clearance.
- Prefer familiarity with codes applicable to field and industry.
- Prefer proficiency in written and verbal communication.
- Prefer proficiency in the use of test equipment and tools pertinent to the field.
- Prefer the ability to take initiative, provide leadership when needed, and perform with minimal supervision.
- Prefer Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) certification, as well as, previous factory service certification on clinical equipment and systems.
- Prefer demonstrated broad experience in microcomputer systems and software, client server concepts and local and wide area network concepts, as well as, demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office or similar products (primarily Word and Excel) and networking technology.
